There is a minimum standard for writing the mezuzah that must be met, and of course there are different levels of quality in writing. A high level of writing requires a lot of time and concentration from the writer, and in any case the price of such a mezuzah is higher than a standard mezuzah.
Tradition states that the scroll of the mezuzah is the protection of the house and its residents, so the need to invest in a good mezuzahs is logical and obvious. When the mezuzah is installed well in such a way that the parchment does not receive moisture and humidity, it can be preserved in the same form for many good years.
